Prairie Fire Threatens Homes Near Deep River
An out of control prairie fire swept near Deep River last week driven by a stiff breeze. It menaced about six homes before firefighters contained it. Trenches were hastily dug to shield the dwellings and firefighting efforts continued as crews worked to stop the spread.
