Rain drenched the fire ridden forests of Thunder Bay and eastern Manitoba easing the worst fires in years. Losses were estimated at least 500000 with mills stands and young timber wiped out and settlers left destitute in Upsala and Comoie townships. Mrs Albert Swaim described fleeing fifty miles through flames to Fort William with her husband after their mink farm burned.

Escaped Madmen Captured All But 3 Back in Custody
In Sonia Michigan the 13 inmates who escaped from the state hospital for the criminally insane were reduced to three at large after a 24 hour manhunt. Blaze Destroys Debris Amid Clearing of Old Buildings
Fire crews tackled a blaze in a rubbish pile by North Marion Avenue behind the Chilcote brick structure and the Redd and Hall barber shop.
