Pasadena Calif UPI reports America's Surveyor spacecraft sent 863 beautifully clear pictures of the Moon including a possible mountain in the Sea of Storms, as engineers noted a wealth of data far surpassing Luna 9. The 620 pound robot, after a first night of 144 images, showed panoramic horizons and closeups of its own nuts and bolts, with the craft traveling 247 538 miles in 63 hours and promising continued transmissions from Goldstone.

North Viet air raids continue into fourth day
Saigon reports U S warplanes flew 78 missions into North Vietnam marking the fourth straight day of the heaviest bombing since the pause ended. Seven American planes were lost, including an F105 Thunderchief whose pilot Capt. Robert D. Pielin of Chicago was rescued. Raids targeted Hanoi Hai phong Dong Hoi Vinh Thanh Hoa and the Mu Gia Pass.
