Iowa Legislature Approves State Income Tax Withholding Plan

The Iowa House approved a plan to withhold state income taxes from workers paychecks and sent it to Gov. Harold E. Hughes. The measure aims to generate a onetime $25 million windfall and ongoing revenue for capital improvements, with education as priority for excess funds. The Senate already passed the bill. effective January 1, 1966.

Dr Flickinger Moves to Federal Meat Inspection Post

The firm of Peterson Flickinger and Larsen announce that Dr M R Flickinger will leave the practice after August 1. He will join the federal government in meat inspection, train in Omaha, then work in Cedar Rapids. No relocation plans are given.

Mark Mosier named president at the annual election held Tuesday evening. Ford Marie is vice president, Linda Bean secretary, Bob Zager treasurer, and Bill Perdock on the board. Ronald Lauderdale of Columbus Junction is a new member. Members bought another training plane a 140 Cessna to be delivered this month.

Iowa Senate approves House apportionment plan for legislature

The Iowa Senate backed a House version to set constitutional guidelines for apportioning the legislature based on population with caps of 100 in the House and 50 in the Senate. The measure, requiring identical approval by the 1967 legislature to go to voters, allows possible factor-based adjustments if permitted by the U S constitution. The vote followed party caucusing and conflict over conference committee reports. Jesse Moore 56 Dies in Washington County Hospital

Jesse Fredrick Moore 56 of 625 North Fifth Avenue died June 2 1965 after a three day illness in Washington County Hospital.
