Sam West Dominates Market Pig Show At County Fair
At Washington County Fair 14 year old Sam West, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe West of Washington, won the individual market pig championship and then led the champion pen of three market pigs in the 4 H and F F A division. Bill Frame of Ainsworth earned the reserve pen honor, with Rosann Crayne of Washington showing the reserve individual pig. Judging of market pigs drew a large crowd as purebred swine and sheep judging were scheduled for the day.

Washington County's annual 4 H and FFA fair opened with attendance near double last year. Paid admissions last night reached 3 600 as judging covered dairy cattle rabbits poultry and first divisions of girls 4 H clothing entries. Today swine judging and sheep entries plus garden projects were on the slate with a new flower show and beauty contest planned.
