Patrolman Anthony Rutha testified that he positively identified Frank Ford Capone, a gangster linked to the Alfred Lingle murder, from a fleeing suspect near the Michigan subway. Capone was paraded before the crowd as officers scrutinized his likeness during Foster’s bond hearing.
An attempted holdup at a savings and loan bank failed as officers repulsed the bandits who fled the banking room under gunfire. Cashier Davidson, in a rear roof area, grabbed a weapon and fired through a partition. The bandits were routed and pursued by police along the Ohio highway. Sons of Veterans members planned to attend a state gathering in Marshalltown next Sunday.

Charlotte Wilson wife of Legora O Laughlin died this morning at 6 45. She had been an invalid for years and was taken critically last Sunday night. She spoke to her daughter Effie before dawn saying she was very sick. Survived by four children and seven foster children she cared for as her own. Born Logansport Indiana she lived in Washington county most of life. Funeral Friday August 1 at 2 30 p m at Jones funeral home conducted by Rev J Robins. Interment Elm Grove cemetery.
Burlington Indiana July 30 Plans for constructing a new junior high school building to cost two hundred thousand dollars were approved by the school board yesterday. Bids for the contract will be opened August 26. Marion George who underwent a recent operation at the county hospital was able to be taken to his home this afternoon.
The airship travels toward the Canada coast and is expected to arrive by Thursday. Indications show the ship averaging about 50 miles an hour for the remainder of the flight, which has already surpassed 38 hours as of noon today.
During the three days, Saturday Sunday and Monday, local ice dealers sold more ice than ever in a similar period. One firm estimated 20 tons sold Saturday and 20 tons Sunday, with cars lined up for customers. Dealers say demand has been high for two weeks and crews worked overtime to handle the rush.

Elmhurst Police Chief John Martens noted no local record for Falduto or listing in Chicago rogues gallery and suspected a gangland feud.
