Max Jerome Maust of Sewickley Penn aged 20 died when a United States naval air station training plane crashed two miles north of the station during a routine night flight. Mrs Sears Killed In Highway 34 Auto Crash
Mrs. David Sears aged 6 was killed Tuesday night when struck by an auto driven by Leo Thompson of Seconium on Highway 34 east of Albia. Her husband walked with her as the vehicle struck. Coroner Frank Bay announced there will be no inquest, death due to a fractured skull.

Child Dies of Burns at Prairie City Farm
PRAIRIE CITY services were planned today at the First Reformed church for Carolyn Joan Winegar a two year old fatally burned at her parents farm home five miles northwest of town. Parents Gylford Winegar 28 and Jane 29 were severely burned and unable to attend. They were fumigating a poultry house with gasoline and an electric spray when a short in a service plug caused an explosion neighbors helped trap inside. A War Bond investment of 75 dollars would pay for a 45 caliber automatic pistol and a Army tent.

Three Washington county registrants left this morning for Des Moines to take up army service. Cecil J. Townsend of Wellman and Orin G. Black of Washington are reporting for active service following their furlough after induction. Paul L. Watson of Washington, a volunteer, went to the induction center for his final examination and induction. Army Navy Men Among The Victims
An American Airlines transport crashed in southern Kentucky killing 20 aboard including three crew members and several army and navy men.
