Bloomington flooded after a Friday night downpour, and Columbus Indiana observed a funnel cloud with a tornado watch in southern counties. Delaware County officials hunted for Larry Heims a 29 year old man who vanished after leaving Monticello on a business trip toward Holy Cross. Heims drove a burgundy 1966 Pontiac GTO marked Standard Chemical Manufacturing Co. on both doors. He is described as 5 11, 190 pounds with dark hair and blue eyes. An intensive area search failed to find him. sheriff Barr called it a brick wall case with no evidence or debts or family problems reported.

Four Killed in Delta Iowa River Crash
In Delta Iowa two rural Ottumwa couples died when their car hit a bridge approach and toppled into the North Skunk River south of town. Victims were Lester Sanders and his wife and Rodney Coolidge and his wife. Sanders’ son Steve, 13, survived with serious injuries. The car lay on its side in the river as divers searched murky waters and a possible passing manuever is noted.

Marines invade Viet DMZ in major ground push
U.S Marines moved on foot and by helicopter into the Demilitarized Zone to locate and destroy Communist artillery and mortar positions.
