Also available are various residence properties and building sites with easy terms and city-wide options.
Valley Iowa July 27 Special reports a grand Fourth of July celebration Saturday evening drawing attendees from Keokuk and Washington counties. Fireworks delighted the crowd while Richland minstrels entertained. Officer Teeter settled a few disturbances and HI V Frank and Mr Breidenbach were credited for organizing a successful event.
Frank Pierson, in a fit of insanity, attacked his father and mother with a razor at their Iowa Falls home after starting a fire in a trunk. He then cut his own throat. Authorities report the mother in critical condition and Pierson alive, recovery doubtful. Albert Pierson, Frank’s brother, died by suicide in Chicago last spring.
T G Haight returned from Cop pock with vivid camp news. A gale Sunday night shook tents and a large tree limb crashed near a camp shelter, narrowly missing occupants. Rey Logue and Mrs J R Logue arrived in Washington at three pm from Monmouth Illinois and will stay with Mr and Mrs J H Young on East Main street until their home is ready. Mr Logue appears healthy after mountain and New York travels and the couple receive a warm welcome from the city community.
At 8 o clock this afternoon a wedding united Bert Pierce and Tillie Carson at the home of his parents on the Heights. The ceremony was performed by ev A h Davidson of the First United Presbyterian Church. Pierce runs the John Mc Cleery farm, owned by his father. Carson is described as an accomplished young lady and a fitting partner for life. The Journal extends best wishes for their future.
Sad news reports the death of Myrtle Harbaugh aged about eighteen of West Chester. She attended the Academy this spring and planned to teach before illness two weeks ago halted her school duties. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs T P Harbaugh and active in the art church.
Mrs Minnie Churchill age 30 years 6 months 5 days of Lona Township died yesterday leaving husband Joseph Churchill Jr and four children two boys and two girls including a two week old. Funeral at Bethel Methodist Church Wednesday at 2 PM conducted by Rev Jones.
Brighton hosts Woods Bros circus in winter quarters after a city visit. Workers upset by news they would not perform for five weeks. many employees with eastern homes are broke and have telegraphed for tickets, leaving them in hardship.
Thorne led the exercises today and gave a talk on Temperance. The X ray man cannot attend as booked, a disappointment for this leading attraction. Another social is planned Friday after the debate, and debaters show strong demand for reading material on the monetary question.
Members and friends of the A. M. FE. church enjoyed a warm gathering at the church last evening. The building sparkled with Chinese lanterns and greenery while guests were treated to ice cream, cake, and music from visiting singers during camp meeting style entertainment.
Friday evening at the Academy Chapel a gold and Silver debate will feature two ladies and two gentlemen on each side. The gold bugs are Jas Brookhart Henry Squires Miss Gray and Miss Montgomery. The silver tongues are Stanley Miller Ed Wicher Miss Burroughs and Miss Brown.
From his late residence the remains of Mr. C. W. Burnham were interred in Elm Grove Cemetery this morning. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Thorne at 10 o'clock. Many friends were present to pay their respects, while the last sad rites were performed.
The forecast for Iowa calls for fair weather with warmer temperatures in the northern portion. Tonight and Wednesday should stay fair. In Washington, DC, July 28, Mrs Will Crawford remains very sick while Mrs Tom Moothart, Mrs Mellville, and Miss Stella Craty recover or improve from illness.

Last evening in southeast Washington a domestic disturbance drew attention as a husband who had just returned became involved in a conflict within a family line. A relative woman connected to the couple is cited as a source of ongoing trouble.
A barn on Mr. Patterson’s farm a few miles north of the city burned after a lightning strike. A nearby threshing machine was also destroyed in the blaze.
The County Republican Convention will be held in this city on Wednesday, August 19, inviting delegates to participate in the party gathering.
Last night campers hauled in Chicagua’s biggest freshwater catch in years after high water swept the fish up river and hooked a trot line.
