Cattle Set New High Price At Chicago Stock Yards
Iowa Chicago area cattle sales set a yearly high on Tuesday at the Chicago stock yards. The Teeds Grove farmers sold 20 Hereford steers averaging 1,175 pounds for $17.75 a hundredweight, the highest July figure in 25 years. Clinton county buyers led Monday’s market with 24 Hereford steers from Lester Newmarch near De Witt and 37 Aberdeen-Angus steers from Charles Sechrav near Bryant, bringing $17.60.

Dr. A E Shaw coroner of Polk county announced a coroner's inquest into the death of three Washington Iowa youths in an Ankeny automobile bus collision will be held next week. Victims include William Louis Spenler 17 and Darlene L ukavsky 18 while Bernard E Swift 23 and Arylus Larson 17 were injured. The Jefferson Line bus carried 29 passengers and turned to avoid a stalled car before colliding with the opposite auto.
