Lawrence Roberts, 24, a Waterloo employee and CAA student pilot, was killed when his Taylorcraft crashed while practicing stalls about 11 miles northeast of Waterloo. He had ground training from East Waterloo High and logged about 14 hours in the air with less than five solo hours. The plane plunged into a corn field, landing on its nose with minimal corn damage.

Farm Worker Hurt In Truck Crash Near Elencor
Ted Conway twenty two a farm worker is in serious condition in a Sioux City hospital after his truck collided with a Neilsen Transfer Co truck driven by Chester Jensen of Onawa. Former County People Injured Near Sigourney
Mr and Mrs Melvin Shebeck and daughters Marie nine and Melva Dee four of Stillwater Oklahoma were injured in an automobile collision nine miles east of Sigourney on highway 92. Their car hit a parked vehicle owned by Ralph Romine of Keota, sending the Romine car into a cornfield. The Shebecks received cuts bruises and head and facial injuries but planned to continue to Oklahoma soon.
