U N Ambassador George Bush highlighted a state department program that sends foreign diplomats to experience real America by living with American families. Last year 3,000 diplomats benefited from trips funded by private contributors with a $1.5 million backing, plus a $175,000 GM and DiGiorgio loan for camping vehicles enabling tours across the West. Ambassadors from Yugoslavia and Zambia praised the program for reshaping views of Americans beyond Washington and New York, urging broader participation.
