The navy reported the loss of two U S submarines in the Pacific the Trout and the Tullibee overdue and presumed lost. Each carried 65 men. They were the 26th and 27th U S subs lost since the war began bringing total American combatant losses to 171. The boats were part of a fleet that has accounted for 806 Japanese ships, 664 listed as sunk.

Laubach Funeral Services Set for Oscar Laubach
Funeral services for Oscar Laubach will be held at 2 30 p m Sunday at L A Jones funeral home with Dr Fred E Miller and Rev H W Munster officiating. Burial is in Keota cemetery. He died suddenly from a heart attack yesterday at his home 221 South Avenue D aged 80. He lived in Washington seven years with daughter Mrs Dale Rathmel. Survived by wife Hattie Leem died 1988 and sons Daniel Yeneseo Illinois Lester near West Chester, five grandchildren.
