County rescue volunteers grow to aid public safety
In 1973 Karl Jones and Yale Jarvis revived a nearly unused county rescue truck with sheriff backing. Four years on the all volunteer unit has expanded to 16 members, earned 13 Emergency Rescue Technicians, and added major equipment like a $5,000 60 pound hydraulic spreading tool enabling rapid extrication. The unit now serves as a vital third arm of Washington County public safety, providing medical, law enforcement and rescue support with discipline and initiative. Continued on Page 8

Johnstown Flood Disaster Deepens with Death Toll Rises
