In Newton Iowa two people were burned when an oil heater exploded blowing out a side of a three room house. Earl Dew 64 and his housekeeper Mrs Edna Summerlot 60 were hospitalized after the blast blew the front door into the yard and the heater fumes ignited as Dew lit the heater.

West Burlington Man Killed In Ditch Crash

William Reif of West Chester suffered first and second degree burns to his hands arms and face while lighting a pile of green brush with gasoline on the Spera farm north of Washington. He received treatment at Washington hospital and was released home in satisfactory condition.
