Des Moines River Drowning In Cross River Crossing
Des Moines man W. H. Johnson and 10 year old Morton Dildine attempted to wade the Des Moines river about a mile east of Camp Dodge to gather rocks for a fishing line. While crossing Johnson carried the boy on his shoulders. Halfway across a strong current pushed them downstream and they disappeared under water about 300 feet downstream. Johnson was a clerk and traffic manager for Boyt Co. in Des Moines. Dildine was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kildine of Des Moines.

Two Red Oak men sentenced after Elliott bank robbery

Murderess Dies From Self Inflicted Wounds After Farm Tragedy
In Carroll Iowa Mrs Edward Heist fifty died from a gunshot wound self inflicted after she killed her husband and battered her niece Mildred Taylor Hines thirty five with a hammer. The Omaha Nebraska bookkeeper suffered severe head injuries but was reported in good condition. Sheriff Tom Finegan said the woman had a four month nervous breakdown and had a prior similar episode twelve years ago. She left a note saying she could not endure it and that those who put her there must suffer.

Farm incident ends in double tragedy after hammer assault and suicide
