Special Train Hits Freight Headon Near Paynesville
A Soo Line passenger train collided headon with a freight train near Paynesville Minnesota injuring about 40 passengers. The 15 car passenger train carried members of the Pennsylvania and Atlantic Seaboard Hardware associations and the Ohio Hardware association en route to Seattle. Both locomotives were demolished and several cars damaged with some passengers treated on site.

Three Vehicles in Accident Near Washington
A three way collision occurred Wednesday about 1 PM at the Rex Smith corner four miles east of Washington. Truck driver Charles R Smith slowed for a left turning car and was hit from behind by Harold A. Lee and then Lester G. Willey crashed into the lineup. Rain and mud reduced visibility and stopping distance. Damages totaled 50 to the truck 10 to Lees front fender and 250 to Willey’s front end. No injuries reported. Investigated by the Washington county sheriff's office.

Ainsworth Man Hurt When Hit by Vehicle
Marl Miksch, 66, of Ainsworth was seriously injured Wednesday when struck by a car in the town limits as he tried to cross Highway 2. Driver Genevieve Conrad swerved but could not avoid the collision. Miksch suffered head injuries, rib fractures, and extensive cuts. He was admitted to Washington County Hospital. The driver was not held. The county sheriff's office investigated.
