Mrs Llewelyn Hagerdon Dies After Illness

Mrs Llewelyn Hagerdon formerly Miss Evelyn Farrar 31 of Dallas County home demonstration agent died of Hodgkins disease after ill since May 1. Her marriage to Ha gerdon Waterloo August 22 1938 at Crown Point Indiana was learned only Tuesday. couple had planned to announce next fall.

Haying Accidents Leave Two Farmers Hospitalized

Two farmers sustained neck injuries in haying incidents. Adam Beichner of Shell Rock was struck by a hayloader at the Martin Waideich farm near Shell Rock. Lewis Hill of Plainfield fell from a load of hay, fracturing neck and back vertebrae. Both are in Mercy hospital, Waverly.

College Girl Wins National Win A Job Contest

Helen Theis of Ames daughter of Mrs. Frank Theis is among 11 college girls named winners in the Made moiselle magazine and department store sponsored national contest. Miss Theis will begin work August 1 with B Altman and Co department store in New York.

Fischer Stands Put on Drunken Driver Cases

Iowa Public Safety Commissioner Karl Fischer announced an ironclad policy to suspend the licenses of all persons arrested for driving while intoxicated with no exceptions. Appeals for temporary reinstatement pending trial were denied. licenses are automatically suspended and reinstated only if acquitted.

Farm to Aid Cancer Research In Iowa Probate

Mrs Elizabeth M Henry directs in her will filed for probate that after the death of her nephew Charles T Campbell the 86 acre Scott county farm be sold and the proceeds given to the University of Iowa College of Medicine for cancer research. The estate valued at 17000 dollars. Mrs Henry widow of Dr J M Henry died seven weeks ago. The 86 acre farm lies in Hickory Grove township.

Picket Button Plant Today At Muscatine

More than 300 strikers gathered at the Hawkeye Pearl Button plant in Muscatine Iowa to defy a court injunction. No workers crossed the picket line and the factory remained closed since June 17 with 76 strikers on duty by nine.

Mrs Samuel R Knupp dies at 75 in Washington

Mrs Samuel R Knupp aged 75 died at 8 40 pm at 721 South Iowa Avenue after several months of illness. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 30 pm at the Methodist church with Rev Arth Atack officiating. Burial at Grove cemetery. She married William Horning in 1899, later wed Samuel R Knupp in 1927. he died in 1937. Survived by a daughter Mrs Ralph Fellers and several stepchildren and relatives.
