The Republican Women of the first district gathered Monday at Sunset Park with Mrs. Caroline Dickey, Packwood campaigns chair, leading a discussion among 35 women from Henry, Iowa, Jefferson, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott and South Lee counties about the fall caravan. Washington County will handle county reservations for the two day event, with bookings via Mrs. Edgar Stewart or Mrs. William Helscher. Mrs. Phil Weldin invited all first district delegates to a July 28 29 coffee from 2 to 4 pm at the Hotel Savery in Des Moines.

Final rites for Mrs. Lelia M. Atkinson were held at 10 30 a m Tuesday in the Jones Funeral Home with the Rev Theodore Schwartz in charge. Charles Murdock was soloist. Pallbearers were William Kendrick Franklin Chmelar Walter Westen William Chmelar Sr Elwyn Corey Stanley Doig. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery.
The Jackson Boys 4-H Club held its annual tour on Friday visiting four teen members at their homes where each shared details about his project. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Robert Jacobs.
Mrs. Mary Reister remains a patient on Mercy Hospital fourth floor Iowa City hoping for contact from friends. Raymond Stacy of Brigh ton was dismissed from Mercy Hospital Iowa City Tuesday and is recovering at home. Mrs. Willard Glaze of Houston Texas returned home Tuesday after visiting the Davises and neighbors near Ainsworth. Mr. and Mrs. Arden Campbell and daughter Martha of Mendota Illinois were guests of Herb Campbells.
Mrs Gertrude Eagle is improving after surgery and visiting her children in Iowa City area. She is staying this week at the home of Richard Lahr in Solon while convalescing.
