Death by own action shocks Washington man
Robert J. Armstrong about 45, longtime Washington resident, died early today by drinking carbolic acid in Sunset Park. Coroner L. A. Jones ruled it a suicide after discovery by park custodian around six to seven this morning. Armstrong, a Burlington Paper salesman, had been melancholy and reportedly threatened self harm. He leaves a widow, a son Raymond, his mother Mrs. Sarah Armstrong, four sisters and three brothers. He had lived in Fort Madison previously and was a Mason and Elks member. Funeral plans were not completed.
