Mrs Adelia A Davidson, widow of W H Davidson, dies after falling into an uncovered cistern at No 144 North Chambers Street while her daughter Miss Jessie Davidson and physicians attempt resuscitation. The incident follows reports of a perilous rain and a prior family tragedy. Grace Hill reports a bull attack injures Carl Dunbar, breaking his right collar bone while attempting to rope the animal.

Marion Ward, about 15, climbed onto a Burlington engine just before noon and was knocked off by a post. The engine passed over his left foot, nearly severing the great toe and crushing others.
