Wise Just Misses No-Hitter in Milwaukee Losses by One Out

Rick Wise pitched 8 2 3 innings of no hit ball for the Red Sox in Milwaukee before back-to-back homers by George Scott and Bobby Darwin ended the bid. Wise blamed humidity and fatigue as he walked off to a 6-3 Boston win, with Jim Rice homering twice and driving in four. The night also saw Greg Luzinski key the Phillies to a 5-3 win over the Cardinals as they chase the Pirates in the NL East with Luzinski’s 21st homer and Allen delivering the winning hit. Other AL results included Detroit, Chicago, Kansas City, Cleveland, and Minnesota wins, while Atlanta, Cincinnati, New York, and Los Angeles had victories in the NL.
