Tax records show $354,868.79 paid by end of June toward the first half, with about $60,000 remaining unpaid. Extensions allowed until July 1 expired yesterday, and penalties of 3 percent plus 3/4 percent monthly accrue for overdue payments. Rock Island Railway may be among late payments.

Fern Ariene Bowser aged nearly four died at 8 45 pm at her parents home three miles northwest of town from a heart condition after a brief illness. Survived by parents Samuel and Matilda Brewer Bowser and siblings Roslyn Darlene Shirley Ann and Ronald Eugene. A service at L A Jones funeral home Sunday before a Brethren church service at 230 pm in South Ielish with burial in the cemetery. Dr F C Witsigman to conduct both services.
Medford Wisconsin report notes O H Capelle conducted an auction selling 471 items to suv bidders in about 15 minutes setting a speed record for the event.
A community July 4 charity event features a daylong kittenball tournament at Junkin Field followed by an evening at Case Field with wrestling between Orr and Joe Timm and boxing bouts led by Dick Turner vs Felix Dougall. Proceeds fund the kitchen relief fund.
