Ammonia Plant Explosion Hospitalizes Eight in Iowa
Eight people including seven firefighters were hospitalized after an explosion at Nutra-Flo chemical bulk plant in Sioux City Iowa. A large liquid fertilizer tank and an ammonia tank blew up sending fumes over a 500 yard area and sending residents from nearby homes. Damages may reach 600000 with up to two million gallons of liquid fertilizer lost. An investigation is underway by the company.

Injured youth wrecks his car near Vinton Iowa
Eldo Carlson an 18 year old from Mount Auburn suffered a shotgun wound to his right hand while shooting crows at his parents home. He lost consciousness while driving to the hospital, crashed the family car near Vinton, walked to a farm home for help, then was taken to Virginia Gay Hospital and later Cedar Rapids in satisfactory condition.

A bathysphere is en route to an area 1,200 feet deep off Palomares Spain to recover two objects believed to be parts of a nuclear bomb from a SAC B52 crash. Officials have not confirmed ongoing searches though language and reports point to unarmed nuclear weapons aboard the aircraft.
