Fire last night destroyed the Glenn Ross variety store on the square and damaged nearby shops. The Ross stock is ruined. Montgomery Ward and Rothschild stores suffered smoke and water damage and are closed for inventory. Unofficial losses hover between 25000 and 33000 dollars. most losses are insured. Fire started in the basement.
