John Putman 82 dies after long illness at Washington home
John Putman 82 longtime resident of Washington County died this morning at 9 30 at his son's home on 908 Fast Third street. He was born in Virginia April 27 1851 and was married to Rosella Whitsell in 1881. He farmed near Pleasant Hill before retiring twenty years ago and lived in Washington since. Funeral services are set for 2 30 Wednesday at L A Jones funeral home with Dr S P Telford in charge followed by burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Grand Knight J M Kelly announced Washington Knights of Columbus plan two dances on January 30 to honor President Roosevelt. Proceeds go to the Warm Springs Foundation in Georgia. Crawfordsville Home Damaged by Early Morning Fire
The W. G. Robertson home in Crawfordsville suffered extensive damage after a fire broke out shortly after midnight. Firemen fought the blaze with two water streams, the east side was fully involved, and the kitchen burned away. The cause is undetermined though defective wiring is suspected. Mrs. Robertson and son Harry were inside. Robertson is away in New Wilmington for church duties following his mother’s death. The home was insured.
