Eugene T. McGaa of Riverside goes on trial in Washington County District Court on an assault with intent to inflict great bodily injury charge. A seven woman and five man jury was sworn, with opening arguments expected this afternoon. The 29 year old former salesman and University of Iowa student is charged in connection with an Aug 2 1976 assault on 19 year old Joan Miller near West Chester. Prosecutor Richard Bordwell leads the case. McGaa is represented by Tracy Anderson. Trial judge Ira Morrison presides. officials say the trial should last two days.
