Mississippi arrests indict 18 in civil rights slayings case

United Press international reports federal marshals rounded up 18 persons in Meridian Mississippi after a grand jury indicted them in the slayings of civil rights workers. Among those seized were Sheriff Lawrence Rainey and Deputy Cecil Price. Arrested at the federal building, two Philadelphia residents Billy Wayne Posey and Jimmy Townsend faced conspiracy and color of law civil rights charges. Also detained were Rev. Mrs Killen Olen Burrage Jerry Sharpe and others tied to the case. 16 alleged Meridian area suspects, two out of state.

Buddhist Catholic Hoa Hao Cao Dai Unite to Fight Communists

Adventure talk by Romain Wilhelmsen in Kiwanis series

Romain Wilhelmsen of Pasadena California will present the fourth Travel and Adventure program this winter by the Washington Kiwanis Club. The Monday January 18 event at 7 30 p m in the high school auditorium features a color film South American Adventure and narration by the Los Angeles Adventurer's Club member who has written on adventures since 1953. Flaming KC135 crashes into Wichita neighborhood
