Grace Borkoski 75 died Friday evening at her Brighton home after long illness. Funeral Monday at 2 p.m. at Gould Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Woeste officiating. Burial in Hillcrest cemetery. Born July 6 1890 near Brighton to Alonzo and Mary Gowey, she married Romana Borkoski March 30 1912 in Washington. Survived by husband two children Lawrence Borkoski and Helen (Berkeley) Brown two grandchildren two great grandchildren three brothers and two sisters including Lawrence Gowey.

An 18 year old Des Moines youth, Steve Thomas Power, died at 1 15 am at Broadlawns Polk County Hospital from injuries after a head on crash on a Des Moines street Friday night. Gregory Alan Davis 18 was driving the other car and Michele Grant 18 was hospitalized in fair condition. Authorities said Power skidded while passing another vehicle on SE 14th Street and hit the oncoming Davis auto.
