Mrs William F Fleming 85 died at 6 15 this morning at her daughter's home one mile east of Washington after long illness She was born August 3 1864 near Crawfordsville and lived on the family farm Survivors include two daughters Mrs Robert Wiley and Mrs Charles Wiley and three grandchildren Roberta Dick and William Wiley The service will be 2 pm Monday January 16 at Jones Funeral Home with Dr William J Grossheim and Dr George Kerr in charge Burial in Elm Grove cemetery The family attended the Presbyterian church

Fire destroyed the two story Porter Produce Co. building in Nichols Iowa cutting off telephone service for about seven hours. Firemen in six degree weather prevented damage to the telephone building and no injuries were reported. The top floor housed a lodge hall and apartment, with residents away. Loss included seed and incubators with many chicks. cause undetermined but may stem from a faulty furnace. Raymond Porter noted furnace trouble recently.

Addie Kemps Keiser 52, a former Kalona resident, died Jan. 10 in Denver Colorado. Blind since childhood, she belonged to United Workers for the Blind in Colorado. Born Sept 19 1898 in Johnson County, she moved to Colorado five years ago. Survived by husband, a son and daughter, mother Mrs. David Lantz Kalona, three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held in Denver.

Michigan Tech Hockey Team Bus Crash Kills Four
A school bus carrying Michigan Tech's hockey team collided with a Greyhound bus on an icy highway near Gaylord Michigan. Four people were killed and ten injured including a child and a man from the Greyhound. The Greyhound carried 21 passengers en route from St Ignace to Detroit. Six wounded were taken to Grayling Hospital about 25 miles away.
