Ottumwa pilots were Albert Gypeon of Kirksville Missouri and his son who escaped when their Cub plane clipped a small tree during takeoff from the municipal golf course landing on the course across the road from the airport. Both held student permits. Davenport reports Miss Emm Logan aged 71 a retired teacher was fined ten dollars and given a suspended twenty day jail term for driving without a license after she told Magistrate McSwillvin she had driven to Des Moines to prove she could drive.

Break Into Highland Rural School Case Probed
Sheriff H M Putnam reported a break in at the Highland Center school on road 218 north of Haskins. A window was broken and a phonograph used. a pen set and pencil were stolen while books and equipment were left scattered. A missing Iowa City car linked to a youth returning from a party to Washington. The incident in question is under investigation.

Jacob Jordon Mills aged 77 died this morning at 9 30 at his daughter Mrs Harvey Lowers home on North Second avenue after a short illness from a heart ailment He was born May 1 1863 in Keokuk county and lived near Brighton and Richland before moving to Washington 22 years ago Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 30 at L A Jones funeral home and burial will follow in Highland cemetery Surviving are three daughters two sons eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren with siblings John Mills and Fred Mills among others He married Martha Fringle December 1 1888.

Ainsworth Youth Struck by Car Near Highway 92
Jay Edmondson, 17, a student at Ainsworth high school, was struck by a car on road 92 two miles east of Ainsworth after leaving the school gym. He was walking east on the south side when the right front fender grazed him, causing a brief unconscious spell and head bruises. The driver, H B Oden, 48, of Exline Iowa, said he did not see the youth until close contact due to opposing lights and was driving about 50 mph. He stopped, aided Edmondson, and took him to the county hospital. the injuries are not considered serious.

Reighard Pleads Guilty in Brighton Liquor Case
Howard Eugene Reighard of Brighton pled guilty to maintaining a liquor nuisance after a raid found liquor on the premises. Judge J G Matterson suspended a three month jail term on good behavior and paroled him to Sheriff H M Putnam. The same court granted a divorce decree in Walter Stout v Bessie Stout with custody awarded for their minor son.

Crawfordsville Car Stolen Last Night
A blue 1940 Ford 2 door sedan owned by Harold Miller of Crawfordsville was stolen from his garage last night. The vehicle, license 92 4658, motor 18-55609608, was broadcast on state police radio and later found abandoned in Crawfordsville. The thief may be moving south, with other recent thefts linked to nearby Cedar Rapids Vinton and Burlington incidents. Dave Milne of Dysart sold two walnut trees for 8 and 100 dollars respectively.
