Milo Reno head of the National Farm Holiday association says farmers are forming to take the law into their own hands. He cites organized opposition to farm mortgage foreclosures and defense committees in affected counties acting to amicably settle crises before farmers lose their homes.
The McLellan Stores chain with 278 outlets filed a voluntary bankruptcy petition in U S district court. Liabilities were about 2.15 million dollars with assets around 3.52 million. Chairman W L McLellan announced a reorganization and measures to ease banking difficulties. It is anticipated the filing seeks to restructure leases and the business.
Japanese troops forced the last Chinese guerrilla bands from east Manchuria and a leading Chinese general surrendered. Some leaders crossed the Russian border as raiders slowed the Japanese advance toward Jehol province amid mountainous terrain and cautious defense planning.

George Gilmore Ebner 85, longtime county resident, died at 5 15 this morning at his son George C Ebner's home half a mile south of Haskins. Funeral at 10 20 Monday, burial in Ainsworth cemetery, flowers omitted per family wish. Ebner owned land where Haskins now stands and had lived in Washington for the last 20 years after earlier years in Ainsworth and Illinois born April 17, 1847 in Mercer county Illinois.
Madrid reports the government will stop stamping paper notes with the Republics seal. Since 1931 the process caused confusion and bank runs in Andalucia. The state will honor existing notes as legal tender without the seal. Britains produced notes. the 35 pesetas bill equals just over two dollars.
State Senator John H. Judd a 72 year old Democrat representing Lucas and Wayne counties died by his own action in his rooming house after reportedly ingesting carbolic acid. Daryl Bell won a $500 verdict against Walter Brown in a late afternoon trial. Bell sought $5,200 for injuries from a 1928 tractor accident on the defendant’s farm. The case, retried after an earlier superseded verdict, followed a supreme court remand.
