Two Babies Die in Fire at Nevada Home
Two young brothers Dennis and David Handeland died in a Nevada Iowa fire that destroyed their grandparents two room house. Investigators blamed a gas stove or refrigerator leak and noted the mother was away and the 15 year old uncle outside. Volunteer fireman Mack Morris entered in a gas mask and pulled the bodies from the blaze after learning the children were inside. The boys stayed with grandparents Donald and Mrs Davis while their parents were elsewhere.

Funeral services for Dr. Bassler were held at 2 30 o'clock Friday afternoon in Sherman's funeral home with Rev Carl Steetel in charge. Mrs Larry Trotter was soloist and Orient lodge A M and A M with Russell Goodin as acting master conducted the masonic service at the funeral home.
