Supervisors and engineers from 16 counties in the third highway district of the Iowa County Officers association adopted a resolution praising roads for national defense. Need 10 Billions In Taxes a Year
Chairman Walter F. George of Georgia, leading the Senate Finance Committee, said the Roosevelt budget plan would require new revenue of ten billion dollars per year. He noted seven billion in new revenues was proposed for the next fiscal year and that some taxes would start later, with war production taxes not fully in effect until late. New cold wave grips Iowa and Nebraska regionwide
A new northward cold wave pushes temperatures to as low as 25 below in northeast Iowa and to 10 below in the southeast. Iowa Coal Mine Deaths Drop to Nine in 1941

Auto Injuries Fatal To Former Iowan
Des Moines resident George A. Barnes 50 former manager of Newhouse Paper Co. in Des Moines died at St Francis hospital in Macomb Illinois from injuries suffered December 30 in an auto crash.
