Smith Creek School History Highlights in Lime Creek Iowa

A 19th century Smith Creek district in Lime Creek Township Washington County Iowa built its first school in 1867 with J C Jones as chairman and E N Foster as secretary. The history notes early teachers like Miss Helen Adams and Miss Bertha Kyman, and a fire in 1909 that destroyed the building. The 1911 new structure stands today with later updates and notable local pupils who became medical professionals.
