McCabe to walk to Washington to fight busing plan
Irene McCabe, president of the antibusing National Action Group, vows a long walk to Washington unless a constitutional amendment banning public busing for integration is released from House Judiciary Committee by March 15. In Washington, Robert Nardy Jr. received a Capuchin monkey named Lancelot Link from his father, purchased for about 75 dollars in Iowa City. The eight month old pet eats mealworms peanuts fruits and vegetables and may be toilet trained. he enjoys warm weather and has had a cold requiring remedies. Lancelot Link has become spoiled and refuses to walk, seeking rides on shoulders. The story includes notes on the monkey’s behavior and care. First Washington City Council Holds Inaugural Session
Washington city council met for its first regular session of 1972 Monday evening. It heard a report on the Washington volunteer fire department's activities. The council approved Marvin Glandon as utilities superintendent Jerry Britsch as sanitation superintendent and Orville Long as street superintendent. Confusion over the new Iowa inspection law for auto sales and title transfers.
