Funeral services for Everett Rex West were held in the Federated church at Keota conducted by Rev. H. N. Poston and Rev. T. C. Polk. Music by a quartet including Robert Cammon Pauline Dill Virginia Meyer and Roger Richardson with Jo Ann Richardson pianist and Mrs Gayle Cupp organist. Pallbearers named Richard Norenberg Dennis Stoutner Kenneth Aller Gene McDonald Donela Dil and Francis Fosdick. Burial was at the Neota cemetery.

A large elm limb toppled onto the roof and porch of Joe Wolfe’s East Washington Street home on New Year’s Eve, causing minor damage but startling the occupants. The next day another limb broke off under its weight and fell in the yard, leading to a decision to remove the remainder of the tree to prevent further harm.
Stanley M Fishburn, 56, died at 4 30 this morning at the county hospital after an illness that began last year. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 PM at L A Jones funeral home with Rev. George Kerr officiating. Burial in Crawfordsville cemetery. Survivors include wife Jessie two daughters Louise and Leota son Evan brother Clyde sister Mrs Nick Roth. He was born August 18 1891 in Crawfordsville and lived all his life in the area except the last three years in Washington. He was married Oct 9 1912 and was a member of the United Presbyterian church.
The body of Mildred Pasek, 35, of California visiting her mother, was found on railroad tracks near University Bridge in Des Moines. She had been missing since noon yesterday. the coroner ruled death due to exposure.
January 2 thieves at Lundgren Town reportedly used excess nitro glycerine on the Carleton Norstrom Elevator company safe, blowing the safe through the floor into the basement. They fled without taking the contents besides 30 cents and one check.
James Sherbady, the final escapee from Colorado state prison, was found today at a ranch house. He had held a rancher’s family overnight then released the rancher to work. Police surrounded the house. he carried a fake gun made by inmates.
