Frozen body of former soldier found near Fairfield
An inquest was planned into the death of Victor Blair, 37, a discharged serviceman, whose frozen body was found in a cornfield near Fairfield Iowa about a eighth of a mile from the Rock Island right of way. No marks of violence and no death cause yet. Blair’s papers showed a Fort Sheridan Illinois discharge on November 19 and a cousin Fred Blair an Illinois state policeman in Mt Carmel Ill to be notified. A punched train ticket Dec 24 from Chicago to Los Angeles suggested he may have ridden a train Sunday.

Daering Services Held in Clay Church
Funeral services for John Daering aged 82 were held at the Clay church with Rev. E E Voss officiating. Burial followed in Clay cemetery. Daering died suddenly Sunday night at his Brighton area home seven miles NW. He was born in Germany December 7 1863 and immigrated at age 16. He married Anna Williams in 1891 at Fort Scott Kansas. The family moved from Iola Kansas to Iowa 28 years ago. Survived by his wife six children 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Capture man who escaped at Keokuk
Wilbur Bud Osborne 26 was captured in Des Moines after escaping Keokuk police. He is treated for a leg wound and condition is reported no good. Osborn was shot by a Keokuk officer during the escape while being questioned with two others over recent robberies. He will be sent back to Keokuk after hospital release.
