Past Year Was Pivotal One For United States Missile Program

CAPE CANAVERAL UP I reports that by end of 1982 the United States boasted about 400 war ready missiles across Atlas Titan Minuteman Polaris and newer pathways with 1 500 heavy and medium bombers. The piece notes the 1962 pivot to smaller mobile missiles and rapid launch, while suggesting the Soviet gap in ICBMs may favor the US. It also cites Lapp urging reduced stockpiling and cites CIA estimates as unreliable.
