Six Children Die in Maryland House Fire
In Island Creek Maryland a blaze consumed a frame house killing six children. The victims included George Arthur Gross five and his siblings Anthony one Gerald five months Melody two Sandra Dee four and Joyce Marie Height six. Police said the Gross parents left the youngsters alone at about 730 p.m. The fire was found about half an hour later.

Heart Fund drive starts in city in 1965

Gerry Rae Brenneman a 19 year old Cotter resident and University of Iowa student was killed when his auto was struck by an east bound Rock Island freight at the Cotter crossing.
