Cedar Rapids February 27. Harold M. Cooper chairman of the Iowa liquor control commission was fined 1000 dollars in Linn county district court by Judge H C Ring for violation of the law he administered. No jail sentence but 300 days in county jail if the fine is not paid. Judge Ring overruled defense request for a new trial and judgment followed. He called Cooper indifferent to his duties saying it is surprising a man in such a position would mail 200 liquor seals to a man he only knows as a slight acquaintance. The effect on his status as chairman is uncertain as Governor Herring has urged his resignation but Cooper has refused.
