In Jersey City a robber posed as a customer and passed a note to teller Marguerite Noble demanding specific cash sums totaling 36 dollars. After receiving the money he fled the Provident Institution for Servant Savings Friday.
Wayne Norman, county GOP chairman, issued the official call for the Republican county convention to meet at 10 am Friday March 16 in the Washington County courthouse Delegates will be named at precinct caucuses held before March 16 based on one delegate per 40 votes for secretary of state in 1934 caucuses listed with dates and delegate counts across townships and wards for county and state conventions to be held in Des Moines on April 6.

Harold G. Armstrong 67 of Wayland died Friday at Mercy Hospital Iowa City after two weeks as a patient. Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Wayland United Methodist Church with burial in Wayland Cemetery. Zehr Funeral Home handles arrangements. Armstrong WWI veteran born March 29 1888 in Washington County. Survived by niece Mabel Netterfield and sister-in-law Nellie Armstrong.
Government reports show consumer price index at 114.6 percent of 1947-49 average, up 0.3 percent from a year ago. Wholesale prices stand at 111.5 percent, up 1.5 percent, with declines in meat, furniture, and autos offset by gains in services and metals.

Accused plane saboteur John Gilbert Graham, who waived insanity, will face murder charges in Denver district court on April 16. The 24-year-old dropped his insanity plea, after which the state charges him with planting a time bomb aboard a United Air Lines DC6B to kill his mother for life insurance. The blast killed 44 people when the plane crashed near Longmont after departing Stapleton.

Mrs. Tillie Harden 71 died at her Ollie home after four years of ill health and three weeks of serious sickness. Funeral at Pekin Methodist Church Sunday with Rev E K Barrett officiating. burial in Rock Creek Cemetery near Ollie. Born May 3, 1884 near Ollie, she married Tillie Harden in 1905. survived by son Merle, sister Effie Kenyon, and brothers W E Shy and Harry Shy. preceded in death by Victor Harden and two infant sisters.
Mrs. David Blankenhorn, 85, died this morning in the Sump Nursing Home after a lingering illness. The body was taken to Sherman’s Funeral Home and funeral services are tentatively set for Tuesday afternoon at that funeral home.
In Rome, Premier Antonio Segni secured a decisive 284 to 52 confidence vote in the Chamber of Deputies. The victory supports his pro Western policy and domestic reforms, while Monarchists and Neo-Fascists opposed.
