Hampton native Dr Lucretia Wilder, 24, of Minneapolis, died Friday afternoon from an infection linked to an experiment she conducted with a rabbit at the University of Minnesota hospital.
Des Moines reports that corporation and individual net income tax receipts total $133,495 so far this year. Laverne Clark, head of the corporation and net income tax division of the state board of assessment and review, provided the figures Saturday.

Iowa life insurance sales for January 1935 rose 16 percent from January 1934 reaching 8,818,000 dollars. The month showed a 27 percent increase from the prior year nationwide sales topped 645,337,000 dollars.

Carl Everett federal housing administration field representative will speak at the Chamber of Commerce meeting in Washington Thursday March 7. Contractors builders and business people are invited. Everett recently came from Washington DC after attending a federal housing conference. The earlier Wednesday plan was cancelled for this week.
Washington and eight regional teams earned promotion to the district debate tournament in Iowa City amid Friday and Saturday competition. Washington placed second to Burlington. four affirmative teams are Ft Madison Washington Iowa City Burlington and four negative teams Muscatine Davenport Washington Burlington. Washington’s entrants include Daryl Fetters Catherine Masson affirmatively and Don C Davis Rachel Johnston negatively. University of Iowa judges with coach J A Taylor supported the event. State declamatory contests begin Thursday at West Chester with competitors from Keota Ainsworth Washington and West Chester.
County board of education and city superintendents met at the courthouse to plan uniform geography and language textbooks for most county schools. Rural schools set an adoption date of March 7 for new fourth and fifth grade geographies and language texts, with several city schools also changing texts. Riverside and Kalona towns were not represented but showed willingness to cooperate.

Des Moines based Rev W A Weyrauch former Methodist pastor and revivalist will preach each evening this week at 7 30 PM at the Four Square Gospel tabernacle 511 South Marion avenue. He will deliver forceful messages on prophetic themes drawing on his long experience as a Bible evangelist and interdenominational revivalist since 1920.

Funeral services conducted at the Methodist church in Kalona honored Mrs. Marion Keppler 67 who died Sunday afternoon at her daughter's home near Wellman. Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Bell of Wellman and Mrs. H. A. Swartzendruber of Kalona and a son A. C. Keppler of Webster. Burial was at Sharon Hill Cemetery.
Washington county alumni association of the state university moves the first class production Bird in Hand from Iowa City to the State theater. Two large trucks carry scenery properties flood lights spot lights and electrical control equipment from the University theater to the Washington venue for the Wednesday performance.

Shirley Temple stars in The Little Colonel at the State theater through Tuesday with Lionel Barrymore in support. An added feature tonight is a Washington Shirley Temples fashion show sponsored by Rothschilds at 800. The State theater touts another national release scoop as manager Pratt brings the film to town.
The play requires eight people besides the director and assistant plus staff. A full day is needed to ready the stage and theater. Early Wednesday morning director Vance TM Morton will assume control and, from then until curtain time Wednesday evening, the theater will be under his direction.
