Clinton Woman Dies As Car Hits Bridge
Mrs. Isabelle Ptak age 55 of Clinton Iowa died instantly when the car she rode in struck a bridge near Pekin Illinois. Driver Thomas Smith 64 of Clinton Foods escaped with minor injuries and was later released from Pekin hospital. Police said a missed turn at the Route 29 bridge caused the crash and an inquest was planned.

Drivers At Fault In Wreck On No. 1
Coroners jurors ruled two drivers were at fault in a crash involving three trucks and three cars near Fairfield nine miles north of the city. Benjamin Hannah, 30, Mr. Pleasant, was killed as negligence was found in the failure to separate a motor vehicle and the obstruction caused by a semi trailer. The accident occurred at a fogbound intersection of a county road and highway 1. Hannah’s gasoline truck did not explode.

Scholarships Offered For Conservation Camp Attendance
The Chicagua chapter of the Izaak Walton league offers fifteen dollar scholarships to six Washington county elementary teachers to attend the Iowa Teachers Conservation camp at Springbrook State park near Grundy Center. The three week session cost is sixty dollars, reduced to forty five for scholars. Camp runs June 17 to July 28 in two terms, with five quarter hours of college credit and activities including fishing camping swimming and field trips. Sponsors include Iowa State Teachers College the Iowa State Conservation Commission and the department of public instruction.

Survived by wife two sons two daughters a half sister three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
