Warrant forms representing 35 percent of State Equalization Aid were mailed to Cedar Johnson Linn and Washington counties. Washington Community District received 117370.12, Highland 46219.45, and Mid-Prairie 98709.06.
The Iowa House passed a bill allowing state university campus security guards to have peace officer authority and carry firearms by a 91 to 16 vote. The measure, already cleared by the Senate, heads to Gov. Ray for signature. an attempted Lipsky amendment requiring written president approval was defeated 78 to 28.
Des Moines Senator Andrew Frommelt proposes a bill allowing temporary or permanent school buildings adjacent to non public schools so public school teachers can instruct parochial students. He cites staff shortages and closures, notes driver education already uses nearby structures, and says wider shared time could ease the crisis.
Students at Washington Junior High plan to raise 1000 for building materials for a Peace Corps School Partnership overseas. The Peace Corps Volunteer will manage funds and assist on site while village residents donate land labor and as much materials as possible. A faculty-parent vs ninth grade basketball game on Tuesday March 4 at 7 30 in the junior high gym is a scheduled fundraiser with more events under consideration.

Sunday outlook shows a chance of light snow east part, otherwise mostly cloudy and slightly colder.
