Civil War Veteran Daniel McKay Dies at 86 in Louisa County
Daniel McKay 86 a Civil War veteran and lifelong Louisa county resident died Thursday in Wapello after a brief pneumonia illness. Born December 20 1843 in Columbus City he served in Company F 19th Iowa Infantry and was twice captured before escaping. He married Amanda Jones August 4 1867 and lived on a farm seven miles south of Columbus City. Funeral services will be held at his home Saturday at 2:30 p.m. He was active in Masonic circles. Surviving relatives include two nephews Arch B and W W Davis and two nieces Mrs Lou McKavy and Mrs Villa McKay Hayes. His wife died in 1915.

Miss Belle Marsden 83 to Lie in State Before Saturday Rites
Funeral services for Miss Belle J. Marsden are set for Saturday at 2 30 in the Methodist church with Rev. A W Henke conducting. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery. The Washington county resident died Wednesday night at her North Marion Avenue home after a long illness. She was born October 13 1846 near Ainsworth. She leaves a brother H E Marsden of Red Oak and a daughter in law Mrs Harvey Jones of Red Oak among nephews and nieces. The body lies in state at the L A Jones funeral home until noon Saturday.
