Disabled in Atlantic as Ambassador crew rescued at sea
Nor wegian freighter Fruen removed three crewmen from the damaged British freighter Ambassador in 35 foot seas 600 miles off Halifax. Coast Guard cutter Coos Bay planned to haul four more crewmen as rescuers searched for eight or more aboard liferafts. Two liferafts with four or more men each were sighted at sunset Tuesday. The fate of the remaining 35 crewmen was unclear. The Leonardo da Vinci had reported liferafts in the water and the Vulcania and a Coast Guard plane joined the search along with Canadian aircraft.

Load limit placed on highway No 78 between Brighton and Wayland
State highway officials reported a six ton gross road limit on trucks using highway 78 between Brighton and Wayland. Vehicles over the limit must detour around the soft blacktop until the weight restriction is lifted to protect the pavement from further damage while the ground remains soft.

Don Gulling of Rock Island Motor Transit announced plans to spend 90000 on new equipment this year. Sen Vern Lisle of Clarinda proposes delaying the June Iowa primary to next fall and proceeding immediately with a permanent reapportionment plan. American wheat ship Exilena to reach Odessa Saturday

Examination for commercial pesticide applicators held in county
