Inscription Committee Named for Bicentennial Project
The Washington County Bicentennial Commission announced an Inscription Committee for the George Washington Time Capsule Monument. Members are Charles C. Hotle, chairman, David Elder, Catharine Kleese, and Robert Nicola. The project plans a bronze bust of George Washington atop the monument and a time capsule repository within the monument body, located in central ark in Washington. The capsule is to remain sealed for 50 to 100 years. The committee will select inscriptions to carve on the monument and Time Capsule.

Flood threat along Allegheny River reaches Parker Pa and Sunset Bay
United Press International reports heavy rains and a warmup causing Allegheny River flooding in Parker Pennsylvania where downtown areas were submerged three to four feet. Over 75 families evacuated while Sunset Bay New York saw flooded homes. Northern Ohio and Michigan reported minor flooding with school closures. The Parker spokesman called the situation bad but not as severe as 1959. Sunset Bay suffered additional flooding as Cattaraugus Creek rose.

City to buy flusher tank truck to boost rural firefighting
