Winga 74 a Washington restaurant operator since 1928 and longtime banking and civic leader died Saturday February 14 1976 at Mercy Hospital Town City Funeral services set for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at United Presbyterian Church with burial at Elm Grove Winga served as chairman of the Washington State Bank board since 1964 and as president of the Washington Federal Savings and Loan board of directors He also led the Rotary Club and Washington YMCA and held other public posts Surviving are his wife three sons seven grandchildren and three sisters with several brothers noted as deceased Memorials may go to the Washington YMCA and local community groups.

Ainsworth Man Dies After Roof Fall
Vernon L. Adank, 37, of Ainsworth, died Saturday from a fall on his home roof at 427 Fifth St. He tangled in wiring while raising a citizen band radio antenna and fell about 10 feet. Funeral Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Sherman Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Brown. burial in Ainsworth Cemetery. He was born March 20, 1938 in Midlothian Illinois, married Phyllis Hook in 1974, and survived by his wife, four stepchildren, five children, a brother and a sister. He had lived in Ainsworth five years and worked at River Products, Keota.

Washington Band earns third trophy in Drake Jazz Spectacular
The Washington Jazz Band under Robert Shepherd won first in Class AA at Drake University in Des Moines. Knoxville and Carlisle placed second and third in Class AA, Bayard won the small school class, and Des Moines Hoover led Class AAA and swept. The group joined Maynard Ferguson on stage and attended an Ed Shaughnessy concert. Next stop is Phi Mu Alpha Jazz Festival in Kirksville on February 28. Washington junior high pupils excel at Keota solo and ensemble contest earning 45 division I ratings and numerous honors with many names listed among soloists and ensembles.
