Fire rescue saves elderly man from burning home
John G. Kirkpatrick an 84 year old invalid escaped smoke in a fire at 314 South Marion avenue. Floyd Kerr of the fire department rushed inside after Miss Alice Kirkpatrick cried for help and pulled the man to safety before the alarm. Both Kirkpatrick and his sister suffered shock and were moved to the Anderson hotel. The blaze started in the basement likely from the furnace and caused water damage but limited structural harm.
